To assist Hong Kong SMEs in utilizing emerging technologies to develop their business in the Greater Bay Area (GBA)

Introduction

Organized by The Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council (HKITJC) This programme through a series of seminars, we will explain to Hong Kong SMEs the development of different types of emerging technologies in the Greater Bay Area and how to better use these technologies to expand the market in the region.

Topics

The applications of various emerging technologies are as follows:

cloud computing
Cloud computing is a model for providing computing resources and services over the Internet, allowing users to access and use data and applications on remote servers. Information and communications SMEs can use cloud computing to reduce IT infrastructure costs and improve data storage and processing capabilities. Through cloud services, enterprises can use computing resources as needed to achieve rapid expansion and flexible adjustment of their business. For example, these companies can use cloud-based data analysis tools to improve data processing capabilities and provide flexible SaaS (software as a service) solutions.

Big Data
Big data technology involves collecting, storing, processing and analyzing information from large and diverse data sets to discover patterns, trends and insights. Information and communications SMEs can extract valuable information through big data analysis to improve decision-making efficiency and accuracy. For example, companies can optimize marketing strategies and improve service quality by analyzing user behavior data.

AI
Technologies that simulate human intelligent behavior, including learning, reasoning, self-correction, and environmental perception to achieve automation and decision support can improve an enterprise’s automation level and business efficiency. For example, through AI technology, the information and communications industry can realize functions such as intelligent customer service and automated operations.

Blockchain
A distributed ledger technology that ensures the immutability and transparency of data through encryption and consensus mechanisms, which can improve the transparency and security of transactions. Through blockchain, information and communications companies can achieve transparent tracking of information such as the source of goods and transportation process, thereby improving trust.

Internet of Things
Connecting physical devices through the Internet enables them to collect and exchange data, realize intelligent management and control, and achieve interconnection between devices and systems to improve operational efficiency. Information and communications SMEs can improve operational efficiency through IoT technologies. For example, these companies can use IoT technology to provide smart home solutions, achieve interconnection between devices, and improve user experience.

Digital RMB
China’s legal digital currency aims to improve the efficiency and security of the payment system and promote the development of the digital economy. The application of digital RMB can improve the convenience and security of transactions, reduce cross-border transaction costs, and promote economic integration within the Greater Bay Area. For example, businesses can use digital RMB to simplify payment processes and improve user experience.

Metaverse
A virtual shared space built with augmented reality and virtual reality technologies that allows users to interact and experience. Metaverse technology can provide enterprises with new marketing and service models and create more business opportunities. For example, communications companies can set up virtual showrooms in the Metaverse to showcase their products and services and attract more customers.

5G
The fifth generation of mobile communication technology provides faster data transmission speeds, lower latency and higher connection density than 4G. 5G technology can provide high-speed, low-latency network connections, supporting large-scale device interconnection and data transmission. Enterprises can use 5G technology to provide more reliable mobile communication services and improve user experience.

Robotics
Robotics refers to the engineering discipline of designing, building, and operating robots that can perform a variety of automated tasks. This technology typically involves multiple fields, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, etc. For example, companies can use robots to improve production efficiency, perform precision operations to reduce labor costs and improve product efficiency, and perform repetitive quality inspection tasks to ensure that products meet standards and reduce defects and returns.
